  1. I happen to be an accomplished meatloaf cook, lol. Seriously, I love variations on the classic dish, and this one is new to me, sooooo … just gottat make it!

  2. I must say, those are interesting and attractive looking ingredients. I will have to try this one out on my family.

  3. I love meatloaf, good ones, and this looks indeed “supreme”! Definitely gonna whip up a batch. I really like the onion marmalade condiment idea, too.

  4. Hello Marvin, sounds incredibility delicious. My wife is always wanting to try new dinner recipes and I can’t wait to try the New Zealand Meatloaf for her.
I not sure if I’ll be able to find quail eggs in the grocery store. If I remember correctly quail eggs are pretty small aren’t they? Would it be ok to substitute chicken eggs for quail eggs? What about half the quantity be ok? It shouldn’t make too much difference should it?
I’ll let you know how it comes out. Thanks for sharing.

    • Hi Robert. Hey listen, man, you can get quail eggs right through my site. Any ingredient that is hyperlinked will take you to my Amazon store, where you can buy all of those sometimes “hard to get locally” items. They are a bit pricey, but well worth it if you want the Real Thing authentic New Zealand Meatloaf. To answer your question, though, yes you can substitute chicken eggs. I’ve tried the recipe both ways, they both taste good, but the quail eggs do bring a more unique, subtle flavor to the “plate” (pun intended, lol).

Thanks for the visit and comment, and please come back often!

  5. Hello! Your meatloaf recipe sounds so delicious! I don’t make meatloaf very often but I will definitely have to try your recipe! I have had quail eggs, but not in meatloaf. This is something different. It sounds very supreme indeed! I noticed you have the Angolan Feijoada recipe. Is this something similar to the Brazilian Feijoada? Wow, so many delicious recipes. I’m always up to try something different. Now I know where to visit!

    • Hi Jessy, and thanks for the visit and comment. Yes, the Angolan and Brazilian versions of Feijoada are similar, but there are distinctions. You will find that the New Zealand style meatloaf is very distinct and apart from the “norm” most people (at least in America) think of.

  6. Hello Marvin,

I immediately saved your website to my favorites after reading about New Zealand Meatloaf Supreme. I have to admit, it also made me hungry. I love a good homemade meatloaf and the New Zealand Meatloaf Supreme sounds delicious. My wife is at the store right now buying all the ingredients. I can’t wait to taste it.

Thanks a bunch for this one, Marv – I will make one up and give ol’ hubby (an avid meatloaf lover, lol) a treat this Sunday.

    • Hey Margo, from all the comments you’ve been so gracious to leave here on this site, I can only bet you are one heckuva good cook. And yes, this meatloaf is not only unique, it is off the charts delicious. For sure, treat hubby this weekend!
